We offer a variety of personal services ranging from foot care and massage, bathing, aesthetic services, light exercise, mobility assistance, nutritional guidance and food preparation according to both dietary requirements and personal tastes.

 

Household Duties
Knowing how difficult basic household duties can be for the elderly, despite their best intentions sometimes physical ailments prevent them from realizing these simple goals. That is why Golden Days offers a wide range of household services to meet our clients needs. These vary from light cleaning, vacuuming, dusting, grocery shopping, laundry, ironing, and mending of clothing. Realizing that the joys of gardening are immense we also offer aid in both the maintenance and creation of beautiful lasting gardens.

 

Recreational Services
Unfortunately in the 21st century emphasis is put on work and getting things done. Recreation and entertainment are often put on the back burner. Moreover primary care givers who look after all of the basic need of their loved ones have little time or energy left to put towards recreation (which often can be time consuming). Social involvement and physical activity can make a positive contribution to the independence and quality of life of the elderly. By providing the opportunity to interact with the outside world they regain a sense of independence and self-worth. Did you know that as part of Golden Days recreational services we offer:
1. daytime outings such as to the movie theatre or concerts
2. trips to the park and picnics
3. meetings with friends and shopping
4. weekend trips out of the city (certain restrictions may apply)
5. when the weather does not allow for outdoor activities we will help entertain on those dreary days with table games and cards

 

Minor book-keeping and correspondence services
Paying bills on time can be tedious after all we've all overlooked the payment date once in awhile! Why not pass off this arduous task. Golden Days can provide assistance with minor financial matters: bill payment, basic book-keeping, household and family records. Why not let Golden Days keep things organized; we can help keep track of appointments (whether they be with specialists or for lunch).

Referral Services
Finding a good referral can be time consuming and often difficult. Golden Days can help! We offer a range of referral services, varying from medical references such as: chiropodists, optometrists to non-medical referrals for example: accountants, appraisers, and aestheticians.

 

Convalescent Care
Hospital stays are shorter and an increasing number of medical treatments are being performed on an out-patient basis. When returning home seniors, or others with special needs, may find difficulty in administering personal care and attending to the management household duties. We can help make it through these periods of convalescence. Whether needed for a short term live-in stay or for a few hours each day, Golden Days can provide just the right amount of support to help focus our clients' attention on returning to good health. Another service Golden Days offers is for extended care for those in retirement or nursing facilities or rehabilitation centres where extra attention or care may be wanted.

 

Respite Services
Looking after an aging or ailing loved one often leaves caregivers exhausted and prone to personal illness (please see link to article in Toronto Star from Nov. 1999). Caregivers needing time to renew themselves find relief through our on site short term stay program. Experience a well deserved rest while qualified care professionals provide a safe and caring environment. We look after personal hygiene and care, preparation of nutritious home cooked meals, recreational outings and light house keeping duties. For caregivers who spend full days helping their loved ones can take advantage of Golden Days night sitting service which will allow them to obtain a much needed rest.

 

Occasional babysitting
If you want to have a night to yourself or a weekend away; as part of our family care services we offer occasional babysitting. We will provide you with trained and certified day care workers. Contact us for details.
